Kjøge Mini-by: Miniature model town of Køge.

The miniature model town of Køge is displaying the town as it was approximately 150 years ago. To explore Køge Miniby is an exciting experience, which awakens the fantasy in most people, both adults as children. Many children think it is like walking inside a dollhouse city. The models of the houses are all built in 1:10 true scale. Some of the houses still exist in the real Køge.

During your visit it is possible to have access to the craftsman workshop, where the models are being build.

You are allowed to bring your food and coffee, and have your lunch at Køge Miniby.

Vallø Castle

Only 3 kilometres east of Gartneri Toftegaard you will find Vallø Castle surrounded by large forests and farmland owned by Vallø Manor. This area belongs to one of the most beautiful Danish manor landscapes, and in 1981 the area by law was defined as a cultural and historical protected area. Vallø Castle was built by baroness Mette Rosenkrantz in the years of 1580. The castle park and gardens are kept in old English style with small lakes and ponds, and a collection of rare trees and bushes.

The public is welcomed in the park, gardens and forests all seasons, and it is allowed to bring picnic baskets and blankets, and enjoy the outdoors.

Across the castle an old Inn is placed. The restaurant has limited opening hours on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, and opens at 6 pm. For reservations please call +45 56 266 266. Find more details here www.valloslotskro.dk

Neighbouring the Inn the old Manors horse stables houses a small museum. The museum is telling the interesting history of the castle and the manor. Only open in the summer.

Stevns Klint (Stevns Cliff)

Drama and idyll are connected in a splendid mixture at Stevns Klint. Viewed from the seaside this 18 kilometres long and steep cliff raises as a massive promontory to a height of 41 metres. On a sunny summer day the colours are magnificent. The limestone seabed makes the water look crystal clear, the water surface reflects the deep blue sky, and the white chalk cliff makes a strong contrast to all the shades of blue. The sea is eroding the land at a slow pace, and in this process the steep cliff is created. In 1928 there was a dramatic slide. A part of the chalk cliff collapsed and tore the apse of Højerup Old Church into the sea. Remains of the slide and debris can still be spotted on the narrow beach. The old church, or what is left of it, is now supported by a big wall.

Geological and culture historical excursions at Stevns Klint

Stevns Museum arranges guided walks in the area by the cliff and Højerup Old Church. Learn more about chalk mining in the old days, the ancient story about the Cliff King and extinction of the dinosaurs.

Please note

Walking, climbing and staying unsupervised on the cliff are at your own risk and responsibility.

Møns Klint (Møns Cliff)

Do not miss out on this excursion! Møns Klint is suited about 1 hours drive from Gartneri Toftegaard. This cliff is one of the most amazing sights in Denmark. Be sure to schedule a whole day to visit Møns Klint and the Geomuseum.

Møns Klint, the white chalk cliffs and the nearby nature area is one of its kinds. Not only is the dramatic cliff and exiting adventure in itself, but the forest and the open landscape inlands shaded by the cliff, are inviting for beautiful and very special nature walks. This area is well known as one of the few places in Denmark where wild orchids grow.

Make your day complete by visiting Geocenter Møns Klint – a new interactive museum

http://ww.moensklint.dk.

By good weather conditions there are many places to enjoy outdoor meals.

The southern part of the cliff is low. The beaches along the cliffs are not suitable for swimming. The seabed is rough and stony, and there is a considerable draft very near the coast.

Facing north the terrain raises towards the Klinteskoven (Cliffs forest). Stairs lead from the plateau above the cliffs to the beach below, at special viewpoints like Gråryg Fald, Store Klint, Sandskredsfald, Jydeleje Fald and Liselund. It is possible to walk along the cliffs either on the plateau above or along the beach at the bottom.

From the walking path on the plateau, a path runs out to Cape Freuchen close to Store Klint. At the cape there is a breathtaking view both south and north. From the car park there is a very steep walk up to the highest viewpoint Dronningestolen (The Queens Throne). This highest point is 128 metres above sea level, and at nice weather conditions you have a view of the Baltic Sea, and maybe even the coast of Sweden and German Island Rügen.

Please note

Walking, climbing and staying unsupervised on the cliffs are at your own risk and responsibility.

Be aware of debris from slides on the beach. Do not try to climb piles of clay and chalk. The material can be deep, soft and very sticky.
